I think of my process of drawing in this crayon and pencil series like crossing a threshold from the ordinary to the non-ordinary world. I am influenced by contemplating plant botanicals, viscera of the body and sacred geometry. The visual language of dreams, symbols and imager from ancient cultures stir within me like awakened cellular memories. Fragments of ideas activate as if entering an ecstatic trance. It’s a journey of connection to a descending energy of spirit. There’s a particular joy I feel when making a pencil line move across paper or a crayon scribble creating a splotch of color. Hinting at a shape, drawing is likened to a process of allowing this energy to move through me onto the paper. My focus when I start drawing is an attempt to manifest imagery from subtle planes of vibration. Throughout this process, I’m reminded that as multi-dimensional beings, we can tap into unseen wisdom and knowledge. Drawing is a process of shifting from the mundane to the express a moment of space, time, matter, energy and information of the multiverse.
