My initial education was in the fine arts with undergraduate work from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and graduate work from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Later in life, after living under the big sky of New Mexico, I decided to become an acupuncturist. I graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College in Albuquerque.  After graduation I was led to Portland, Oregon to start my practice. I eventually moved home to the east coast to live closer to my family.  With my return to the east coast, I  began to expand my understanding of the medicine.  Acupuncture blends my fascination of the interaction of art, science, creativity and healing. Acupuncture, like a drawing, is the art of placing needles along patterns of energy on the body.  Vital energy or what’s known as “Qi” is activated much like the lines of energy in my drawings.  It’s said in Chinese Medicine that “where the mind goes, the “Qi” follows”.  This is an idea I continue to contemplate. Blending ideas about Chinese Medicine, the movement of “Qi”, the Biofield and healing which occurs with this flow of this energy, informs the direction in my art work as well as my profession as an acupuncturist.
